Open School Masters of Arts in Teaching
In partnership with the University of Portland, Open School launched the Open School Master of Arts in Teaching (OMAT) Residency Program in Fall 2015. The program is designed for candidates seeking to become licensed teachers with a focus on equity, please explore the OMAT with the University of Portland School of Education admission office. The OMAT application process begins here.
In addition, Open School currently offers an Equity Certificate Program for educators who are committed to creating equitable and inclusive school environments, especially for their students and families of color. We create a learning community where teachers, counselors, and administrators deepen their resolve, consciousness, and skill to lead collectively for equity in and out of the classroom.
The program is a year-long graduate level experience consisting of three collaborative learning sessions done in a cohort-based model. Open School contracts with the Center for Equity and Inclusion to offer the course content. Continuing education credits are awarded by the University of Portland.
The program is currently fully enrolled for the 2016-17 academic year.
