Open School staff, Board, and students thanked supporters for helping to get 600 students on track for college and career in 2014-15.

Here are some of Open School’s most important achievements in 2014-15:

• 2.5-year grade-level gains in one academic year: We advanced students an average of 2 grade levels in reading and 2.5 grade levels in math in their first year at Open School East, our new 7th-12th grade college prep school in East Multnomah County.

• 94% graduation rate: We graduated 94% of our Step Up seniors from high school and helped 90% of these graduates pursue post-secondary degrees.

• Two new teacher-training programs: In partnership with the University of Portland’s School of Education, we launched a new Equity Certificate Program and MAT Residency Program to teach train the next generation of educators.
