We celebrated the greatness of our students today with Governor Kate Brown, our staff, and the committed supporters who helped us build Open School East.

Thanks to our students for sharing their powerful voices at the ceremony.

It’s official: Gresham’s Open School is open  (Gresham Outlook)

Here are two excepts from the I AM poems our students read at the ceremony, with Governor Kate Brown by their side:

“My name is Rayanna
A leader at Open School East
It means open-minded
Courageous, and good friend
A mother’s first daughter”

“My name is Alex Leyva.
It means I’m brave and smart.
It is a really important name to me.
My name story began about 14 years ago.”
