Long-Term Substitute Teacher
Open School is looking for a communicative, trauma-informed teacher and relationship builder to join the Open School East team as a long-term Substitute Teacher!
The long-term Substitute Teacher is responsible for working alongside a supportive team to deliver the curriculum through a culturally responsive practice. This position maintains a safer and braver classroom environment, provides a prepared curriculum to students, performs supervision duties, and carries out additional responsibilities to support students’ diverse needs.
Substitute Teachers work at our Open School East location Monday through Friday from 8:30a – 4:00p but must be able to be flexible as needed. Substitute Teachers report to the Principal.
The long-term Substitute Teacher role is a full-time, non-exempt position with a starting rate of $23.00- $25.00 per hour. A Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university focused on education and at least one year of experience working directly with youth, preferably with under-served and multi-cultural youth in an educational setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong knowledge of Oregon Common Core Curriculum goals and the ability to interpret and use standardized test scores to advance student achievement. Proficient in using Microsoft Office and Google Suite in your daily work. Must be able to pass an Oregon Department of Education fingerprint-based criminal history verification pre-employment background check.
